Tying The Knot in Jamaica: Hey Mr. DJ

"The best wedding I have ever been to!" "Fun!"
"I want a wedding like that when it's my turn to get married!"
"Oh gosh, I wish my wedding had been this good!"

Entertainment - that is what makes a wedding enjoyable and fun. A wedding can be beautiful, lovely, gorgeous, romantic, extravagant yet be a real yawn. Guests sit counting the seconds till they are able to leave without being deemed an early exiter. An unforgettable wedding is one that has well timed and placed entertainment. One that turns a cocktail hour, a reception or an after party into a true celebration of a beautiful union. After all the planning, spending and preparing, having a really good time is what makes it even more rewarding and wonderful an experience. It feels good to have guests deem your wedding as one of the best, if not the best, they have attended. Big J Entertainment is ready to provide brides and grooms with amazing service that will add to making your wedding a wonderfully entertaining experience. Big J Entertainment comes highly recommended as the customer service is amazing. The level of professionalism is exceptional. Jason Stewart of Big J Entertainment consistently provides follow-up services that will keep a bride and groom to be assured of his unfaltering commitment to provide them with amazing entertainment.

A few advantages of having musical entertainment
  • Music is a powerful form of entertainment; it allows you to set the mood by the tone of your song selection...upbeat, romantic, intimate, cheerful.
  • Dedication songs may even be used to replace toasts and lengthy speeches...for many people sitting through all those toasts - toasts to the parents, toasts to the bridesmaids, toasts to the groomsmen, toasts to the cake? - can be a boring affair similar to sitting through a dull lecture.
  • Another advantage to dedication songs is that you can minimize the occurrence of unsavoury roast toasts that might set a bad tone for the honeymoon.
  • Awesome photographic opportunity to get candid shots of everyone dancing.

A few wedding planning tips
  • Brides: when fitting for wedding outfit, determine the extent to which you are to move around and dance in it. If you would like to dance but find that you are unable to move with ease, you could consider a reception or dance floor dress.
  • For outdoor receptions, identify a good set-up spot for the DJ - preferably a shaded area with easy access to electricity.
  • Feed the DJ and other on site wedding vendors whose service will be needed for several hours. A person operating on an empty stomach, after several hours of working, might inadvertently give you lousy service.
  • If most of your wedding activities or decor require electricity or if your wedding is at night or in a dark room, find out from the venue if there is a back up power source, and if there is none, have an emergency plan - for instance, a mobile back up generator, flashlights, glow sticks and so on.
  • The DJ station may either add to the splendour of the decor or take away from it. In the case of Big J Entertainment, the DJ booth may be illuminated and couples may choose from a range of colours the one that complements their wedding colour(s). It is a good idea for you and your On-the-Day Wedding Coordinator to see the DJ station before your wedding day and determine how it will become a part of your decor.

According to Jason:
Song selection for us is based on the particular bride we are dealing with....for example: when meeting with my bride to be, I will ask her to give me 5 words that best describes how she envisions her wedding. I then use these words to guide me when making song suggestions. So, different songs will go for more mature brides vs. younger brides. It's also based on their personality....some brides are traditional and will go for the "Here comes the bride" kind vibe, while others want to be non-traditional and will select songs such as "Liquid - wifey walk out" ... Others will also want to be "edgy" and will choose songs that the average person will think are not suitable for weddings at all...:)

For centuries people have had music and dance accompany celebration. When the ark of God was brought to Jerusalem, a great moment of celebration for the Hebrews, musicians played their instruments and even King David danced.

"Wearing a linen ephod, David was dancing before the Lord with all his might, while he and all Israel were bringing up the ark of the Lord with shouts and the sound of trumpets." - 2 Samuel 6:14-15

A wedding is a time to rejoice. A time to celebrate the union of a couple. A time to dance and be happy.

  1. Thanks for the advise on the planning. I actually was worried about the DJ booth to. Thanks for clearing that up for me. I'll make sure that it doesn't take away from the event. http://www.adeviaspa.com/pages/BridalServices/
