Toothpaste Matters in the Gluten Free Life

Crest and Aquafresh are two brands of toothpaste found in many stores throughout Jamaica. The good thing to know about these two brands are that they have both indicated that their toothpaste products do not contain gluten. 

With a food allergy or contact (skin) allergy the toothpaste you use matters as it can provide dangerous and possibly fatal exposure if the food allergen you are avoiding is present in it.  To some it may sound extreme, after all you don't eat toothpaste. However, after having mild allergic reactions each time I used a new toothpaste I purchased I did some checks online. I found that the brand could not guarantee that certain toothpaste products were free from various allergens. When you have a food allergy, the toothpaste you use matters.
